Sincona sale 26, lot 2657

This specimen was lot 2657 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Fulda, Bistum, Amandus von Buseck, 1737-1756 Dukat 1738. Vorzüglich-FDC (abbey of Fulda, Amandus of Buseck, 1737-56, ducat of 1738, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

The abbot of Fulda issued ducats at irregular intervals and the survivors are today rare. In 1752 he was promoted to bishop.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.46 g.
