This specimen was lot 30074 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $3,818.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Fulda. Amadeus von Buseck gold Ducat 1744, AU58 NGC. Obv. The Abbott in his clerical garb. Rev. Radiant Abbey crest above three-line inscription with the date. Well struck, and fully lustrous, with just the slightest bit of rubbing on the high points. This rare issue celebrates the 1000th anniversary of the abbey. Ex: 'Colonel' E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman/B.G. Johnson." The abbot of Fulda issued ducats at irregular intervals and the survivors are today rare. In 1752 he was promoted to bishop.
