This specimen was lot 24708 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hamburg. Free City gold Ducat 1744-IHL, AU58 NGC, struck in the name of Karl VII, very scarce type. Nicely toned with bold features." This type was struck 1742-45 in small numbers. Hamburg did not give up minting ducats until 1872, amid the coinage reform resulting from unification.
