Wurzburg 1765-MP thaler Dav-2898
This specimen was lot 3305 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,206 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Würzburg, Bistum, Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim, 1755-1779. Konventionstaler 1765, Würzburg. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. Minimale Kratzer. (Germany, bishopric of Würzburg, Adam Frederick of Seinsheim, 1755-79, convention thaler of 1765, Wurzburg mint. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated, Tiny scratches.)"
This type of 1765-66 is listed rather inexpensively in the SCWC. The price realized here suggests that the SCWC may be in error.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 28.00 g.
