Wurzburg 1764-INM FHP thaler Dav-2896
This specimen was lot 5951 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €260 (about US$362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRZBURG, BISTUM, Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim, 1755-1779. Konv.-Taler 1764, Würzburg. Variante mit Rosette am Mantel und der Schwertgriff auf der Rückseite zeigt auf E von FEINE. Winz. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön +. (Germany, bishopric of Würzburg, Adam Frederick of Seinsheim, 1755-79, convention thaler of 1764, Wurzburg mint. Variety with rosette on the mantle and the sword handle on the reverse points to E of FEINE. Minor planchet defects on the edge, very fine or better.)"
Adam Frederick was also bishop of Bamberg after 1757. Both territories were annexed to Bavaria in 1803. Several other thalers (Dav-2894A, -2895, -2897, -2897A) were issued in Wurzburg in 1764.
