This specimen is one of a type issued since 1996 as part of the reform of the Mexican peso (a previous version had stated "N$1"). When it was introduced, one dollar was about three pesos; today (December 2024), US$1 = 20.6 pesos.

Recorded mintage: 383,908,000.

Specification: 3.95 g, stainless steel ring with aluminum-bronze center, 21 mm diameter.
