Iran AH 1211 rial KM-623.1
This specimen was lot 144 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$529 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Qajar Dynasty, Agha Mohammad Shah, 1193-1211 AH (1779-1797). Riyal 1211 AH (1796), Kashan Mint. With the name of the month mentioned (Rabi' ol-awwal). Äusserst selten, Gutes sehr schön, Leicht gereinigt; Extremely rare. Good very fine. Lightly cleaned. Purchased from M. Saffar, London, in 2013."
The Kashan mint struck this coin AH 1209-1210. Other mints included Khoy (KM 623.2), Mazandaran (KM 623.3), Qazvin (KM 623.4), Rasht (KM 623.5), Tabriz (KM 623.6) and Urumi (KM 623.7).
