This specimen was lot 145 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$397 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Qajar Dynasty, Agha Mohammad Shah, 1193-1211 AH (1779-1797). Rupi 1211 AH (1796), Mashhad Mint. Äusserst seltene Münzstätte, Gutes sehr schön, Leicht gereinigt; Extremely rare mint. Good very fine. Lightly cleaned. Purchased M. Saffar, London, in 2008."
The Qajars did not normally strike rupis, an Mughal denomination more popular in Afghanistan. Besides Mashhad, we note Isfahan (KM 622.1), Kashan (KM 622.2) and Tehran (KM 622.4).
