Revision as of 12:23, 10 June 2025 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "Zurich," to "Zürich,")
This specimen was lot 1370 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$661 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN Genua, Dogi Biennali, 1528-1797. 1/4 Scudo 1677, Genova. Selten. Sehr schön. (Italy, republic of Genoa, biennial doges, 1528-1797, quarter scudo of 1677, Genoa mint. Rare, Very fine.)"
This scarce type was struck 1638-40, 1648-55, 1658-73, 1676-99. We think it was one quarter of a scudo stretto, not of a scudo largo.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 8.7-9.5 g, 0.889 fine silver, this specimen 9.01 g.
Catalog reference: KM 80, MIR 299/24.
