French Indochina 1911-A cent
This specimen was lot 1226 in Sincona sale 90 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 20 CHF (about US$27 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Französisch Indochina, 1 Cent 1911 A, Paris. PCGS MS63RB. (French Indochina, one cent of 1911, Paris mint, uncirculated.)"
This one cent piece is one of a type issued for French Indo-China during 1908-23, 1926-31, 1937-39. French Indochina was occupied by the Japanese in 1940. French attempts to reoccupy the area after World War Two were challenged by Ho Chi Minh and the Viet Minh, leading to French defeat and withdrawal in 1954. The colony was divided into Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
