This specimen was lot 76004 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "KOREA, SOUTH. 1000 Won, KE 4303/1970. Switzerland (Valcambi) Mint. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Commemorating the 5000th anniversary of Korea: the Great South Gate. A lovely and handsome nearly Perfect specimen, with alluring details and sharp cameo contrast." This NCLT is one of a series (50 won to 2500 won) issued to celebrate Korean heroes past and present. In 1970, South Korea was still under military dicatorship.
