Great Britain (1636-38) 6 pence
The first specimen was lot 22726 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 6 Pence, ND (1636-38). London Mint. Charles I. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield. Tun mintmark. Though this coin exhibits a light obverse strike, the full bust is still clear, as is the reverse shield. Nice old envelope toning with some peripheral color." The second specimen was lot 46298 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[2] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 6 Pence, ND (1636-38). London Mint; mm: Tun. Charles I. PCGS EF-40. Obverse: Crowned half-length bust facing left, denomination at right, with no inner circle; Reverse: Ornate coat of arms with no inner circle." Closely related types include KM 94, 95, 97, 98. This example did not realize any where near the catalog value.
