Saxony 1580-HB 2 thaler Dav-9797

This type was struck in 1580 for duke August (1553-86) of Saxony. it is struck from regular thaler dies but it is of double thickness. Like most double thalers, it is rare; the owner was able to obtain this specimen because the edge bumps lowered the price.
