Sincona sale 13, lot 2094
Hameln in 1648. It lies on the Weser between Hanover and Lippe

This specimen was lot 2094 in Sincona sale 13 (Zurich, October 2013), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,199 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "DEUTSCHLAND, Hameln, Stadt, Taler 1556. Sehr schön, Ex. Coll. Huntington, Nr. 18435." This town in Brunswick-Luneburg issued thalers in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It is most famous as the place where the Pied Piper allegedly tooted away all the rats.
