This specimen was lot 2098 in Sincona sale 13 (Zürich, October 2013), where it sold for 14,000 CHF (about US$18,108 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "DEUTSCHLAND, Isny, Stadt, Taler 1554. Äusserst selten. Sehr schön. Ex. Coll. Huntington, Nr. 1492." This free city in Swabia issued a few thalers in the mid-sixteenth century, all rare. We have filed Isny under Wurttemberg because the town was annexed to the kingdom on 1803 as part of Napoleon's mediatization. Dav-9322A differs from Dav-9322 in the spelling of "NOV+CIVITATIS*".
Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
Specification: silver, this specimen 30.60 g.
