This specimen was lot 1140 in Sincona sale 18 (Zurich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"20000 Reis 1855. Rio Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Brazil, 20,000 réis of 1855, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type, struck 1853-67 and 1889, is the most common gold coin of the Empire.
Recorded mintage: 48,000.
Specification: 17.93 g, 0.917 fine gold, .528 troy oz AGW, this specimen 17.95 g.
