The first specimen was lot 20407 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,322.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II gold 20000 Reis 1856, MS63 NGC, a nice lustrous example, double-punched 5 and 6 in the date." The second specimen was lot 22157 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $747.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II gold 20000 Reis 1856, AU. Most pleasing golden color." This type, struck 1853-67 and 1889, is the most common gold coin of the Empire.
