Stack's Bowers 2022 ANA sale, lot 35269

This specimen was lot 35269 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Sol, 1863-PTS FP. Potosi Mint. PCGS MS-63. Variety with large head and stars." This type, which restored the fineness to 903 thousandths, was struck 1860-63 in some numbers. In 1864, Bolivia converted to decimal coinage and the one sol was abandoned.
