Sincona sale 90, lot 2056

This specimen was lot 2056 in Sincona sale 90 (Zurich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"TUNISIEN, Unter Frankreich. Mohammed al-Amin Bey, 1362-1376 AH (1943-1957). 100 Francs 1372 AH (1952), Paris. Ohne Wertangabe. Sehr selten. Nur 63 Exemplare geprägt. Fast FDC. Winziger Randfehler. (Tunisia, French protectorate, Mohammed al-Amin Bey, AH 1362-1376, one hundred francs of AH 1372, Paris mint. Very rare. Only 63 pieces struck, About uncirculated, Tiny edge flaw.)"

This type was issued 1938-55 but all dates are rare. Unlike Fr-14, it does not have the mark of value stamped on it. The SCWC does not include it, but it is mentioned in Friedberg. This issue was struck to the standard of the French hundred francs of 1935-36.

Recorded mintage: 63.

Specification: 6.55 g, 0.900 fine gold, this specimen 6.54 g.

Catalog reference: KM X6, Lecompte 519, Slg. Miller -, Fr-15.
