Revision as of 18:35, 16 November 2024 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "Richter, Jurg," to "Richter, Jürg,")
This specimen was lot 182 in Sincona sale 88 (Zurich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Qajar Dynasty, Fath-'Ali Shah, 1212-1250 AH (1797-1834). 1/4 Riyal 1246 AH (1830), Kermanshahan Mint. Sehr seltenes Nominal, Fast vorzüglich, Leicht gereinigt; Very rare denomination. About extremely fine. Lightly cleaned. Purchased from A. Saeedi, London, in 1985."
Altho the auctioneers catalogued this as a quarter rial, no quarter rials are listed in the SCWC after AH 1232. We side with the SCWC in calling this a 2/5 kran. It is rare either way.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 2.76 g, silver, this specimen 2.61 g.
