Ponterio sale 152, lot 7310

This specimen was lot 7310 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $718.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Utrecht. Ducat, 1724. Akerendam. NGC MS-62." This Dutch ducat was recovered from the wreck of the Akerendam; the SCWC notes that "all known 1724 ducats are from the wreck of the Akerendam and are VF or better condition." The type is recorded from Utrecht 1702-94; each province of the Netherlands issued its own coins.

Recorded mintage: 6,505[2].

Specification: 3.5 g, .986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW.
