Iran SH1358 1/2 azadi
This specimen was lot 75196 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. 1/2 Azadi, SH 1358 (1979). Tehran Mint. NGC MS-67. This tremendous Superb-Gem delivers rich details and much allure throughout." The year after the shah was ousted, the ayatollahs authorized the minting of gold half, one, 2½ and five azadis, based on the old pahlavis.
