Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75196

This specimen was lot 75196 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. 1/2 Azadi, SH 1358 (1979). Tehran Mint. NGC MS-67. This tremendous Superb-Gem delivers rich details and much allure throughout." The year after the shah was ousted, the ayatollahs authorized the minting of gold quarter, half, one, 2½ and five azadis, based on the old pahlavis.
