Sincona sale 90, lot 2036

This specimen was lot 2036 in Sincona sale 90 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 2,600 CHF (about US$3,436 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"TSCHECHOSLOWAKEI Republik, 1918-1939. 10 Korun 1933, Kremnitz. Seltener Jahrgang. Vorzüglich. Leicht gereinigt. (republic of Czechoslovakia, 1918-39, ten korun of 1933, Kremnitz mint. Rare date, Extremely fine, Lightly cleaned.)"

This type was struck 1930-33. The other dates are common but this one is rare, rarer than the mintage would indicate. Most must have been melted. Czechoslovakia obtained the Kremnitz mint as part of Slovakia when Hungary was partitioned after World War One.

Recorded mintage: 915,000.

Specification: 10 g, 0.700 fine silver, 30 mm diameter, this specimen 9.94 g.

Catalog reference: KM 15.
