This specimen was lot 7086 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $1,380. The catalog description[1] noted, "CZECHOSLOVAKIA. 2 Dukaty, 1933. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." During the brief existence of the first republic of Czechoslovakia (1918-39), the Kremnica mint managed to produce some handsome coins, including this scarce type issued 1923, 1929-38 and restruck in 1951. It was accompanied by a gold ducat, five ducats and ten ducats. The obverse portrait is of "good" king Wenceslas, he of the well-known Christmas carol.
