This specimen was lot 23554 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[2] noted, "Napoleon 5 Francs 1810-U, VF35 PCGS, rare issue of the Torino (Italy) Mint. Nicely toned and original with well-struck details." This is a rare date from the Turin mint, being priced about fifty times the common date (1811-A). Le Franc[1] estimates three known to exist. The type was struck 1809-14.

Recorded mintage: 13,519[1].

Specification: 25 g, .900 fine silver, 37 mm diameter, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE, designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier.
