Sincona sale 67, lot 4028

This specimen was lot 4028 in Sincona sale 67 (Zurich, October 2020), where it sold for 50 CHF (about US$66 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"IRAN | Zand Dynasty | Karîm Khân 1166-1193 H./1753-1779 AD, Silver Coinage. 2 Abbasi 1189 H., Kirmân (Dâr al-amân). Very fine."

The Zand dynasty, founded by Karim Khan Zand, conquered and ruled most of Afsharid Iran (except Khorasan) in the eighteenth century. Karim Khan's successors lacked his ability and the state soon crumbled under Qajar attacks. This type was struck AH 1180-87 at Kirman and ten other mints.
