Brazil 1825-R 6400 reis

This gold 6400 réis was minted at the Rio and Bahia mints 1823-30. All the dates are rare. It is nearly the last of a denomination introduced in Brazil in 1727. The specimen was lot 20744 in Heritage sale 3009 (Chicago, April 2010), where it sold for $19,550. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Pedro I gold 6400 Reis 1825R, AU55 NGC, extremely bold design features, a choice example of this very rare type. Mintages for this early series were minuscule with each date recorded as less than 1000 struck."
