from the Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale, lot 12208

This specimen was lot 12208 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1858/7 10 Pesos. Bogotá mint. MS-62 (PCGS). Highly lustrous medium yellow gold with very clean and attractive surfaces. A minor rim bruise, common for this issue, is noted at 9:00 on the reverse. Not quite fully struck but very attractive. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian and Ecuadorian Coins. From Stack's sale of December 1968, lot 219." This type was struck at Bogotá 1857-58. While not cheap, it is considerably more available than the five pesos.
