Colombia 1858-B decimo
This specimen was part of lot 44205 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), which sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Lot of (2) Decimo, 1855 & 1858. Bogota Mint. AU Detail--Cleaned & AU Detail--Scratch. 2 pieces in lot. Both without overdates, untoned to light toning. Both with a few marks in fields but without significant distractions. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck 1853-58 and superseded a coin of the same weight but denominated "UN REAL" (KM 112). As the populace was used to eight reales in a peso, the previous coin must have caused confusion and irritation.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a scarce date.
Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, .072 troy oz ASW.
