Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 55164

This specimen was lot 55164 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Krone (4 Mark), 1653. Copenhagen Mint. Frederick III. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, VF Details. From the Collection of Richard Evans Norton (1872-1946)." Danish crowns of the seventeenth century range from the scarce to the obscenely rare. This one year type is rare. Kroner were issued in numerous varieties in 1653.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.
