This specimen was lot 99212 in Heritage sale 61259 (Dallas, TX, February 2022), where it sold for $1,260. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Louis XV gold Louis d'Or 1726-T AU Details (Saltwater Damage) NGC, Nantes mint. Louis d'Or aux lunettes. A scarce mint for the type, and one which we have not offered for the date since 1997! Interestingly, though designated by NGC as Almost Uncirculated, even beneath the noted saltwater damage surprisingly little evidence of handling can be identified." This louis d'or aux lunettes is recorded for 1726-40 and is among the more common gold coins of the French ancien régime altho this is a better date.
