Sincona sale 13, lot 2504

The first specimen was lot 4415 in Goldberg sale 75 (Los Angeles, September 2013), where it sold for $196. The catalog description[1] noted, "Greece. ½ Drachma, 1833. Otto I. Head right. NGC graded AU-58." The second specimen was lot 2504 in Sincona sale 13 (Zurich, October 2013), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$129 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"GRIECHENLAND 1/2 Drachme 1833. München Gutes sehr schön (Greece, half drachma of 1833, Munich mint, good very fine)."

This is the most available date of a type struck 1833-47.

Recorded mintage: 900,000.

Specification: 2.23 g, .900 fine silver, .064 troy oz ASW, the second specimen 2.17 g.
