This specimen was lot 5318 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,197 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"LÜNEBURG, STADT, Taler 1547. Mit Münzmeisterzeichen Gans (Hermann Gante). Sehr schön. (city of Luneburg, thaler of 1547, with a goose mintmark for mintmaster Hermann Gante. Very fine.)"
This thaler was not issued by the duke of Brunswick-Luneburg but by the city in its own name. This type was struck 1546-48 and 1561-62 and is rather expensive. It is contemporary with Dav-9418, which has the man in the moon facing left.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 28.68 g.
