This specimen was lot 74299 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Sovereign, 1905-M. Melbourne Mint. Edward VII. PCGS MS-62. A few scattered field marks that define the grade, yet with brilliant luster, and a sharp strike for this normally weak struck issue." This date, from a type struck 1902-10 at Perth, Melbourne (shown here) and Sydney, is common.
