Haiti 1886-A 2 centimes
This specimen was lot 24038 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "HAITI. 2 Centimes, 1886-A. Paris Mint. NGC MS-65 Red Brown. A great Gem, this red-brown example offers great brilliance and fields that are largely free of any marks. A light print on the reverse is noted for completeness." This type was struck 1886 and 1895 during a brief period of political stability in Haiti. All issues seem to have been struck at the Paris mint altho not all are mintmarked. The coin is the same weight and fineness as a contemporary French ten centimes.
Recorded mintage: 1,250,000.
Specification: 10 g, bronze.
