Macao 1968 pataca

This issue was minted in Lisbon for the Portuguese colony of Macao as the Portuguese colonial wars were thrashing to their end. The coin is common and was also struck in 1975. Unlike the other colonies of Portugal, there was never any agitation for independence but the colony was returned to China in 1999.

Recorded mintage: 5,000,000.

Specification: 10 g, nickel, 28.5 mm diameter.
