British Guiana, composed of the older colony Essequibo & Demerary and territory annexed south along the river courses. The area would achieve independence as Guyana in 1966. This specimen was lot 6513 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH GUIANA. 1/8 Guilder, 1836. London Mint. William IV. NGC AU-58. A nicely preserved and toned example of this tiny, one-year type."
Recorded mintage: 180,000 plus proofs.
