Baden 1852 gulden KM-224

Sincona sale 57, lot 2560

This specimen was lot 2560 in Sincona sale 57 (Zurich, May 2019), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$167 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND | Baden-Durlach, ab 1806 Grossherzogtum, Leopold, 1830-1852. Gulden 1852. Ausbeute. Gutes vorzüglich. (Germany, grand duchy of Baden, Leopold, 1830-52, gulden of 1852, for the mines. Good extremely fine.)"

The grand duke minted this type in 1852 only. The regular gulden (KM 219, shield reverse) was issued 1845-52. The last gulden was struck in 1867.

Recorded mintage: 32,960 (including KM 219).

Specification: 10.60 g, .900 fine silver, this specimen 10.58 g.
