This specimen is the first coin issued by Swaziland as part of the F.A.O. series and the first coin of that denomination. Swaziland fell under British domination in the 1880's and remained a colony until independence in 1968. The country remains mired in poverty but managed to retain its native dynasty as king.

Recorded mintage: 2,500,000.

Specification: bronze, 2 g, 18.3 mm diameter.
