This type was issued by the Philippines for circulation 1983-94, to be superseded in 1995 by a copper plated steel coin (KM 270.1). Today, with US$1 = 48 PHP (approximately), no coins smaller than a peso circulate. This date is common. The pygmy goby featured on the reverse represents the Philippines fisheries. It is the world's smallest fish (11 mm long) and is now extinct in the Philippines, surviving in Singapore and Indonesia.
