This specimen was lot 1256 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $164.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY: Weimar Republic, AR 3 mark, 1925-A, 1000th Year of the Rhineland, NGC graded PF63 CAM." This type was the first commemorative three mark struck by the Weimar Republic, which would use this denomination to issue numerous commemoratives until 1932. The Rhineland, then under French occupation, was a sensitive topic among patriotic Germans.

Recorded mintage: 3,052,000 plus proofs.
