This specimen was lot 1017 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN: Ahmad Shah, 1909-1925, AV 5 toman, AH1334. Iranian lion & sun in wreath//name & titles of the Shah within wreath, some weakness in center (as on the gold specimen illustrated by Rabino), surface hairlines, 1 small scratch at top of reverse, About Unc, RRRR. CoinArchives records no example in gold, and just one silver trial strike that sold at Sincona Auction 33, Lot 2810 (October 2016) for $4430. According to KM, the '4' in the date was recut over '2' over '1'."

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 14.37 g, .900 fine gold, 30 mm diameter, this specimen 14.31 g.
