This specimen was lot 31757 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $211.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XI Ore 1664, XF45 NGC. A lightly patinated piece with appreciable luster still present. Ex: 'Colonel' E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman/B.G. Johnson." In the late seventeenth century, the Swedish mints oscillated between striking this denomination in billon (shown here) and copper (KM 234). This type of 1660-64 is common in circulated condition but scarce nice. Eight öre made a mark.
Recorded mintage: 431,000 (including assayers GW and IK). This is the most common date.
Specification: 1.23 g, .375 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM 230, Ahlstrom-218c.
