Sincona sale 83, lot 2813

This specimen was lot 2813 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 740 CHF (about US$990 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANKREICH, Kaiserreich. Napoleon I. 1804-1815. 20 Francs 1806 I, Limoges. Sehr schön (Very fine)." Gold coins of the French branch mints are very scarce as a class and probably underpriced. This type was struck 1806 only at five mints of which only Paris is common.

Recorded mintage: 8,059.

Specification: 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, 21 mm diameter, lettered edge, this specimen 6.43 g.
