This specimen was lot 33032 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Silver 10 Dollars Piefort, 1993. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Presenting with a bold side profile of the subject cockatoo and a near perfect strike presentation." This is the piefort version of KM 221. Other ten dollar issues for 1993 include KM 161, KM 210, KM 228, KM 231 and KM 317. The palm cockatoo (Probosciger aterrimus) is found in the northernmost parts of Queensland and in neighboring New Guinea.
Recorded mintage: 22,172 plus an unknown number of pieforts.
