Sincona sale 4, lot 4356

This specimen was lot 4356 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011) where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Frankfurt, Stadt Goldgulden 1497. Titel Maximilian I. Stehender Johannes der Täufer mit Lamm von vorn, zwischen seinen Füssen Wappen. Rv. Reichsapfel im runden Dreipass mit Spitzen. Sehr schön. (City of Frankfurt, goldgulden of 1497, in the name of Maximilian I. Obverse: standing St. John the Baptist with lamb; reverse: imperial orb in trilobe flower, very fine)."

Frankfurt was an imperial free city that was the site of the diet of the Holy Roman Empire. It is now in Hesse.
