Sincona sale 26, lot 2630

This specimen was lot 2630 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$494 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Julius, 1568-1589 Taler 1574. Goslar Lichttaler. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. Prägeschwäche. (Julius, 1568-89, thaler of 1574, Goslar mint. extremely fine or better, cleaned.)"

This is one of several thalers nicknamed "light" thalers, referring to the lighthouse in the wild man's hand. It was accompanied by a double thaler (Dav-9059).
