Sincona sale 86, lot 1792

This specimen was lot 1792 in Sincona sale 86 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 825 CHF (about US$1,111 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Elizabeth II. 1952-2022. Proof 2 Pounds 2009, Royal Mint Llantrisant. Gold. Commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns. Selten. Nur 1'000 Exemplare geprägt, Mit Originaletui und Zertifikat, Rare. Only 1,000 pieces struck. NGC PF68 ULTRA CAMEO. With original box and certificate. No. 152 of 1,000 sets."

Other two pound coins for 2009 included KM 1072 (St. George and the dragon), KM 1126 (Britannia), KM 1000 (Britannia), KM 1115 (Charles Darwin) and KM 994 (technology).

Recorded mintage: 3,253,000 plus proofs in bimetallic plus more in silver (including pieforts) plus 1,000 in gold.

Specification: KM 1116: bimetallic, 12 g, 28.4 mm diameter; KM 1116a, 12 g, 28.4 mm diameter, 0.925 fine silver, KM 1116b, 15.97 g, 0.917 fine gold. This specimen 16.11 g.
