This specimen was part of lot 21476 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), which sold for $2,232.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SINGAPORE. Three Piece Proof Set, 1990. Fr-6 & 7. Struck to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Independence. Authorized mintage of only 1,000 sets. With case of issue and certificate of authenticity. The platinum piece has garnered the ultimate grade from NGC." This specimen was issued by Singapore to honor the 25th anniversary of independence. Singapore, today an independent city-state, was until 1948 part of the British colony of the Straits Settlements. It left the Federation of Malaysia in 1965 and commenced coinage in 1967.
